Embrace change. Discover strength.
At Dragonfly Mental Health & Wellness, we believe healing is a journey - and you don’t have to walk it alone.
Our Philosophy
Like the dragonfly (a symbol of transformation and resilience) we honor growth, change, and the power of lightness after struggle. Our approach is grounded in both science and compassion, blending therapy-first psychiatry, holistic supports, and medication only when it truly helps.
We provide care for children, teens, and adults navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, autism spectrum challenges, and more. Our goal is simple: to help each person feel seen, supported, and empowered to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Meet Your Clinician
K. Erica Hunkin, PhD, MSN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC
Dual Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner & Family Nurse Practitioner
Erica has always been curious about what makes people tick, from her early studies in biology and behavior to her work today as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She earned her PhD in Behavioral Neuroendocrinology at North Carolina State University, where she researched how hormones influence brain function and behavior. Later, her passion for mental health led her to pursue advanced nursing degrees, including her Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate from Johns Hopkins University.
Over the years, Erica has provided evidence-based, holistic care in diverse settings: community clinics, telehealth, and with active-duty military, reservists, and veterans. What unites her work is a person-first approach: therapy before medication, compassion before quick fixes, and a belief that healing is about thriving, not just surviving.
When she’s not with clients, Erica enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, yoga, and traveling with her husband and daughter. She also has a creative side, spending time on pottery, painting, and photography. Her balance of science, compassion, and creativity reflects the same values she brings into every session: curiosity, connection, and care
“The curious paradox of life is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

Why Clients Choose Us
